Written after his wife's tragic death as a way of surviving the "mad midnight moment," A Grief Observed is C. S. Lewis's honest reflection on the fundamental issues of life, death, and faith in the midst of loss. This work contains his concise, genuine reflections on that period: "Nothing will shake a man -- or at any rate a man like me -- out of his merely verbal thinking and his merely notional beliefs. He has to be knocked silly before he comes to his senses. Only torture will bring out the truth. Only under torture does he discover it himself." This is a beautiful and unflinchingly homest record of how even a stalwart believer can lose all sense of meaning in the universe, and how he can gradually regain his bearings. |

Andrew Murray's thirty-one chapter devotional study is based on John 15:1-12. To the thirsty soul these chapters can open up an entirely new and blessed experience in fellowship and communion with Christ. |
|
 |
Using Jesus' words in John 15, "I am the vine; you are the branches," Andrew Murray explores how the believer abides in Christ. In a message as timely today as when first published in 1895, he urges readers to yield themselves to Jesus, in order that they may know the "rich and full experience of the blessedness of abiding in Christ." |

John Bunyan's words are delivered with compelling conviction as he passionately portrays the beauty of the only sacrifice that is acceptable to God. With carefully crafted words he describes the wonder and majesty of a heart broken before the Lord. The broken hearted are not forsaken or ignored, for they are 'His jewels, His beloved.'The Acceptable Sacrifice is a timeless message and must be read by all who desire to enter into the Presence of the Lord. |

The 28th book in the best-selling Pure Gold Classics line, All of Grace presents a comprehensive teaching on the subject of God’s grace. Spurgeon shows how salvation is all of grace, and he bases this thesis on several Scriptures, including Ephesians 2:8-9. Spurgeon outlines the plan of salvation in this book in the hope that many who read it will trust Christ for salvation. In fact, he opens the book with these words, “My intention in writing this message is that many will be led to the Lord Jesus.” About the Author Charles Haddon Spurgeon, known as the Prince of Preachers, was a British Baptist Minister at the Metropolitan Tabernacle in London, England. Greatly blessed by the Holy Spirit, his success and worldwide popularity were largely due to his genius intellect, his natural gift of oratory, thoroughly biblical expository messages, and the fervent prayers of his congregation. Spurgeon’s many writings and brilliant sermons are still widely published today, testifying to his timeless appeal. |
|
 |
Questions, doubts, fears---we all have them. Spurgeon offers a wellspring of biblical answers on forgiveness, redemption, faith, and more in this anthology. His blend of down-to-earth common sense and heavenly wisdom will lead seekers and seasoned saints alike to a deeper understanding of these great truths, and to a confident, joyful walk in Christ. |

Prayer was the vital component of George Mueller's nineteenth-century ministry to England's orphans. Through his narrative account, Mueller reveals how powerful and spiritually rewarding prayer can be in your life. |

Few believers realize the potential impact of the power they have. "There are few subjects relating to the Christian life [with] so little exact knowledge as that of the authority of the believer," say author John A. MacMillan. "This is not because such authority is the property only of a few elect souls. On the contrary, it is the possession of every true child of God." |
|
 |
This volume is a compilation of various writings and addresses given by Watchman Nee in the early days of his ministry. Yet how relevant they are today! The continuing need of God's children to be co-crucified followers of their Lord is their unifying theme. |

A Clear Call to Commitment for Every ChristianAndrew Murray wrote this devotional study - first published in 1909 as Aids to Devotion - with the prayer that God would use it to help his children know that the "standard of the true Christian life" presented in the book of Ephesians is available to all believers. He assures readers: "That you may know what is the hope of His calling, what are the riches of the glory of His inheritance in the saints, and what is the exceeding greatness of His power toward us who believe" (Ephesians 1:18-19).The life of commitment to Christ begins with complete dependence of the Holy Spirit. In twenty brief chapters, beloved author Murray shows what this means for the believer, and twenty-first-century readers will find the message as timely today as a century ago. |
|
 |
This book combines two of Andrew Murray's short studies on prayer, originally titled Have Faith in God and In My Name. This updated volume brings spiritual truth and profound insight to a new generation of readers while staying true to Murray's classic simplicity and original message. |

Francois de Salignac de La Mothe-Fenelon was born in France in 1651. His formal education was carefully guided by his aristocratic elders, and he became a gifted intellectual. But he had a frustrated passion for missionary work. When an ecclessiastical rival maneuvered to have Fenelon assigned to a parish rife with conflict, Fenelon became renowned as a peacemaker. King Louis XIV appointed Fenelon tutor to his heir apparent, and Fenelon was ordained an archbishop. But his advancement in the clergy ended when he defended the radical teachings of his contemporary, Mme. Jeanne Guyon. Her popular books promoted faith, rather than ritual, as the true route to salvation. Like Mme. Guyon, Fenelon sought total abandonment in Christ. The Best of Fenelon contains three of this prolific author's most famous works: Spiritual Letters, Maxims of the Saints, and Christian Counsel, all carefully revised and updated into modern English by Harold Chadwick. Includes Endnotes and an Index. |

Now together in one volume, The Power of the Blood of Jesus and The Blood of the Cross take believers step-by-step through Scripture to understand why the blood of Christ has unparalleled power and learn what promises were made to believers when that blood was shed. Written in Murray's classic devotional style, The Blood of Christ examines both Old and New Testaments to help Christians grasp the truth of redemption-at the time of salvation and on through life as a follower of Christ. |

How can Christians today know God's will when they've looked everywhere? In the Bible, God spoke to Moses through a burning bush, but that's not His pattern. Daniel Schaeffer says that we sometimes ignore what Scripture tells us about God's will, and instead we rely on emotions, human counsel, or circumstances for direction. We can do better, and this book shows us how. Learn about the myths and principles surrounding this important quest, and then apply what you've learned with the study and discussion questions that follow. |

In the work of God, the worker is more important than the work. If God cannot find the right person, He would rather delay His work. Basically, the training is more in the area of character than of skill. Only a new creation can serve God.Seeing the importance of the workman's character in the service of God, Watchman Nee gave a series of messages on this subject. The fundamental features of the character of God's workman given by Watchman Nee are:* is able to listen* loves all mankind* has a mind to suffer* buffets his body and brings it into subjection* is diligent and not slothful * is restrained in speech* is stable* is not subjective h* has a right attitude towards moneyand is dealt with on some other important matters. |

The letters found in Volume II reveal inside accounts of how The Screwtape Letters came to be written, the early meetings of the Inklings (with J.R.R. Tolkien giving readings about -hobbits- and -Middle Earth-), how C. S. Lewis became popular through BBC radio talks, but mostly how this quiet professor in England touched the lives of many through an amazing discipline of personal correspondence. |

This is the autobiography of Augustine of Hippo, a moving and profound record of a human soul and its struggles. The most widely read of all his works, it not only tells the story of Augustine's struggles in the faith, but also his love for the Master. This book speaks to the heart of humanity about human weakness, human frailty, human depravity, and the human need for a holy God. This classic is an exercise in self-knowledge and true humility in the atmosphere of grace and reconciliation. |

Two books bound as one:COMFORMED TO HIS IMAGE is Oswald Chambers' invitation to let go of the "old you" and become a new creature in Christ. And not only an invitation-a practical guide that will move you out of the doldrums of spiritual failure, frustration, and listlessness into the Christian life as you have imagined it could be.With startling clarity, Chambers proves once again that the Christian life of power and satisfaction is not just for "saints" but for everyday believers. In THE SERVANT AS HIS LORD, Chambers explores with compassion and insight why Jesus Christ predicted that His followers would experience many tribulations. But he goes on to show how God gives us a fighting chance to triumph, and he explains that Jesus Himself is eager to nourish and guide His saints in their hours of conflict. The one great message of this book makes clear the truth that through it all, the Lord's servant may be, and should be, "as his Lord." |

What can the call to discipleship, the adherence to the word of Jesus, mean today to the businessman, the soldier, the laborer, or the aristocrat? What did Jesus mean to say to us? What is his will for us today? Drawing on the Sermon on the Mount, Dietrich Bonhoeffer answers these timeless questions by providing a seminal reading of the dichotomy between "cheap grace" and "costly grace." "Cheap grace" Bonhoeffer wrote, "is the grace we bestow on ourselves...grace without discipleship.... Costly grace is the gospel which must be sought again and again, the gift which must be asked for, the door at which a man must know.....It is costly because it costs a man his life, and it is grace because it gives a man the only true life."The Cost of Discipleship is a compelling statement of the demands of sacrifice and ethical consistency from a man whose life and thought were exemplary articulations of a new type of leadership inspired by the Gospel, and imbued with the spirit of Christian humanism and a creative sense of civic duty. |
